What is RBFL?

RBFL—the Radial Baryonic Field Law—is a speculative fixed-law framework investigating whether visible baryonic structure and a proposed local phase-coherence response can account for patterns in galaxy dynamics.

Scientific status: RBFL is not experimentally proven, is not a completed relativistic theory, and does not establish that dark matter or general relativity is wrong.

The research question

Galaxy rotation curves compare the orbital speeds measured across a galaxy with the speeds expected from its observed stars and gas. RBFL asks whether part of the residual acceleration can be modelled from baryonic structure through a phase-state response, without fitting a separate free halo profile to each galaxy.

The locked acceleration law

gRBFL(r,t) = gb(r,t) + CΦ(r,t)√(aΦ|gb(r,t)|) ĝb

Here, gb is ordinary gravitational acceleration calculated from visible baryonic matter, aΦ is the proposed phase-carrier acceleration scale, and CΦ represents the local coherence response.

Why the framework is three-dimensional

Galaxy images and rotation curves are usually projected or radial observations, but the physical system occupies volume. The current RBFL interpretation therefore treats baryonic matter as phase-compression anchors within a three-dimensional parent field. Constructive sine-phase intersections correspond to amplified coherent nodes; destructive intersections correspond to suppressed or cancelling regions.

What would make RBFL testable?

The key challenge is to reconstruct the coherence response from baryonic inputs before inspecting the residual gravity signal. A decisive benchmark would freeze the model parameters, predict withheld galaxies, and compare the results with established MOND/RAR and dark-halo baselines using identical data and scoring rules.

What RBFL does not claim

  • No experimental verification of a new field or force.
  • No proof that dark matter is disproven.
  • No completed theory of lensing or relativistic gravity.
  • No working gravity-control, fusion or energy-harvesting device.
  • No claim that the educational 3D visualiser is a publication-grade numerical solver.
